small sails
Recently insound sent me an email about the Small Sails (myspace). I checked out their track for the download called “Somnambulist”. It was pretty hott. I investigated further and found that they had other good tracks.
They remind me at times of the Album Leaf and Pinback. References to the 90s indie rock chicago scene post rocky stuff like Tortoise seem appropriate as well. Check out these mp3s.
Somnambulist has a bit of that Album Leaf electro-influenced indie post rock thing going on.

Backside of a Magnet: vibraphone and electric piano make for a nice base (and remind me of those Chicago bands with their vibraphones) and then there’s some cut up voices on top and that’s where the Pinback reference comes in.

Update: an astute reader pointed out that Small Sails used to be Adelaide and they released a self-titled album under that name.
