busy concert week
Things have been a bit slow on the concert front in April, just the Dodos/ Wovenhand, Mt. Eerie and Beatbeat Whisper so far. I don’t know what it is, because I went to 11 concerts in March. Maybe it’s cyclical.
Whatever it is, while updating my upcoming concert list I realized it’s about to go into a busy period again. Here are the shows I’m thinking of going to in the next week and change:
- 4/27 Mono @ Great American, 9pm, $13/ $15, 6+
- 4/27 Jonathan Richman (live accompaniment for Phantom Carriage) @ Castro Theater, 7pm, $20 [definite]
- 4/28 the Finches @ the Hemlock, 9:30pm, $7, 21+ [pretty definite]
- 4/28 Konono No. 1 @ Great American, 9pm, $20, 6+
- 4/30 Elf Power @ Rickshaw Stop, 8pm, $10 [probable]
- 5/1 Andrew Bird w/ Apostle of Hustle @ the Fillmore, 8pm, $23.50 [pretty definite]
- 5/3 Cloud Cult @ Bottom of the Hill, 8:30pm, $10, a/a
- 5/4 Bright Eyes w/ Gillian Welch, Jim James @ Greek Theater, Berkeley 7pm, $35
- 5/4 Frog Eyes @ Bottom of the Hill, 10pm, $10, 18+
- 5/5 Members of Xiu Xiu, Grandaddy, etc (live accompaniment for short animated films) @ Castro Theater, 8:30pm
- 5/6 Anthallo, Half Handed Cloud @ Cafe du Nord, 7:30pm, $10, a/a
- 5/7 Chairman Wow, Ian Bjornstad @ Make Out Room, 9pm, $6, 21+
Any thoughts on the undecided ones? Any shows in there that shouldn’t be missed?
