is that appropriate? really?
I’ve added a new category called ‘rant’. Hopefully I won’t use it much.
Is it really appropriate to smoke pot at a show? I mean, I don’t want to smell that; I don’t particularly like that smell. You, Show Pot Smoker, didn’t ask me before you started smoking up right next to me. Kind of rude, don’t you think?
And not to reinforce SF stereotypes, but this happens a lot at shows here. I honestly don’t remember this happening at any of the shows I went to in Boston/ Cambridge (and that’s not because of any sort of memory loss). [See update below.]
Now it’s time for you, the Readers, to weigh in: okay or not okay?
Update: Oh! People were still allowed to smoke (tobacco) in bars in Boston when I was there, so maybe I just didn’t notice it happening. Which brings up another point: why do people respect the ban on smoking in bars but not the, you know, marijuana being illegal (besides medical marijuana) thing?

I pretty much hate it. I am not categorically opposed to the stuff, but at shows… come on people, take it outside! (Have I mentioned my being a crotchety old lady?) I am a paying fan too, and I don’t subject people to my destructive and illegal habits, so don’t blow smoke at me. I agree with you Mr. NosePicker, it is unnecessary and irritating!

its part of the culture. i love smoking in shows, i’d never push it on anyone else, but i really enjoy getting high while watching live music. i don’t think the smoke is bad at all, it fades basically instantly, doesn’t linger in your clothes, and when compared to cigarettes it’s rather pleasant. Enjoy shows for how much fun they are, don’t look to find things to ‘rant’ about. thats not why the musicians perform.
