For a moment there

I thought I had gone deaf in one ear. Turns out my earbuds (Sony MDR-something er others[1]) just lost the left channel. I’m stuck for a few more hours till I can go home and drown myself in the gorgeous stereo of my Beyerdynamic 770s and try to possibly make it up to my left ear.

In the meantime maybe I should listen to some works by those mixed-for-mono types.

Oh, holy crap. After four hours of monaural listening, the left channel is back, how temporarily I don’t know.

[1] You know, the ones with those rubber thingies that fit over the speaker stem on each bud and come in various sizes to fit variously sized ears. The rubber thingies always come off and get lost and you end up with one giant rubber ear-fitter and one tiny rubber ear-fitter. The sound isn’t bad, though.

[Update three minutes later:] Yup, back to monaural.

[Update five minutes later:] Back to stereo. I know this is exciting so I’ll keep updating.

[Update a minute later:] Back to monaural. I was joking about keeping you updated but the more I do it the funnier it gets, to me at least.

it’s so great that your ears are normal.I am a deaf, exactly a HOH(hard of hearing) single. Two year ago, my hearing is normal. Unfortunately, i lose 80% hearing in an accident. At first, I nearly lose will to live. It’s the largest shock in my life and i made myself off the outside world. After a long period, i got back and tried my best to adapt new life for me. I met some deaf or HOH people online on a deaf single club. They are all active in their lifes. I also create my blog here(http://www.deafs.com/blog/megan).
Though I have already adapt the life with a little hearing, but the hearing world is much more dulcet. Therefore, please cherish your hearing. ^^
    Nice day!

  3. [...] There’s no water, ear wax or ear infection in there. The doctor things it’s noise trauma. Basically (hopefully) short term partial hearing loss. (Ironically, I’d light-heartedly talked about thinking I was going deaf in my left ear because my ear buds were breaking about 3 weeks ago.) His instructions: no ear buds/ headphones and try to limit limit noise for a few days. [...]

  4. [...] After a couple weeks of thinking I had swimmer’s ear or a persistent ear infection due to a muffled feeling in my ear a doctor told me that I didn’t have an infection or any water or waxy build up, but rather, it was probably noise trauma. It was in my left ear (ironic, given that I was talking lightheartedly about thinking I was losing my hearing in that ear). The doctor’s recommendation: no earphones/ ear buds/ headphones until it started feeling better, come back if it didn’t start feeling better. I hadn’t been to any concerts, near any catastrophically loud (rock concerts, airplanes at close range, guns) events recently, so it seems like it was more likely a more constant moderately high volume, like listening to music on loud buses or streets.
