more morr music mores: seabear

While I was looking into Morr Music the other day, I also found Seabear (myspace). There was a song playing under a slideshow and I had to go through all the Morr artists until I could figure out who it was.

They’re out of Iceland and make almost-whisper-voiced music with acoustic accompaniment. It’s smooth, but interesting and well-orchestrated. They remind me of Mojave 3 or Neil Halstead’s solo stuff.

Seabear - I Sing I Swim (mp3)

Seabear - Singing Arc (mp3)

It looks like you can get the entire Singing Arc EP from their website. Amazon has the album for pre-order, which will be coming out next Tuesday, Oct 23.

They’re on tour, but unless you’re in Iceland or Europe, you’re out of luck.

I’m a huge fan. I saw them at an all-Icelandic night in Brighton this summer. They’re sweet-stumming boys and funky, multi-talented girls. Their sound is cool and gentle, and often puts me in mind of the lighter side of the Lemonheads. Great for moody Sundays!

[…] Adrian (me): The Year Of - Calling Sky (mp3) (buy) It came down to this and a seabear track for this week. It’s not often that I get obsessed with a 14 minute song and I didn’t actually listen to it that many times given the length, but more than any other song, I kept pressing “back” to hear it again. It’s got a nice post-rock like build along with interesting electro-organic instrumentation. For more, read what I said about it before. […]
