They’ve been running this promo for the Click 5 constantly on the bus’ TV system here because they just had a 5 day engagement in Taipei. This is a largely not a noteworthy band and in fact, I hadn’t listened to them before until just now.
However, I did giggle a bit whenever I saw the promo because I saw the scruffy-haired guy (no, not that one, to the left, nope, to the right. yeah, that one) a number of times when he was drummer for For Reasons Unseen, a thoroughly decent emo-pop band back in Boston a few years back. Two of the members were friends of a friend and we used to go to some of the same concerts (including that first time I saw the Mates of State, when they were opening for Beulah and I had no idea how Beulah could follow that up at all). So yeah, I’ve seen that guy before in frat houses, dorm common areas and small time Boston clubs. And now he’s playing five sold out night’s at the municipal stadium here in Asian capitals.

Ah, college, when emo had some sort of emotional pull on me and times were so much simpler. While I can’t say FRU was the best band, when taken with a heavy dose of nostalgia, I definitely smile when I go back and listen to them. Fun stuff and good for what it was.
