jason anderson’s album I haven’t heard (time to fix that)
From Catbirdseat’s list of top 5 albums that I didn’t hear comes a song from someone whose stuff I know, but an album I, surprisingly, hadn’t heard: Jason Anderson.
Jason Anderson – July 4, 2004 (mp3)

Honestly, this isn’t the type of song I’d normally like–an upbeat, organ-driven rocker. But I do like it. Jason’s voice is fragile and yet strong–similar to Conor Oberst’s without the annoying. It really helps carry the song. The harmony during the chorus really works well too.
Jason often makes trips through the Bay Area, stopping at little known spots in the East Bay. I’ll have to catch one of those soon.

I think I like this in the same way that I like some of The Hold Steady stuff– rockier than I would normally go, but so much fun that I love it. It gives me an excuse to bob around and ‘rock out!’
