beatbeat whisper; or, the whale; the dodos in folky love triangle

Three of my favorite acoustic-based/ folky local bands are playing a set of three events in the upcoming couple months. The bands are Or, the Whale (myspace, local and I’m listening @ ipmn); the Dodos (myspace, local and I’m listening @ ipmn) and Beatbeat Whisper (myspace, local and I’m listening @ ipmn).

Each band is playing with each other band. One of the show even features Emily Jane White, who I’ve also been liking lately.

1/20 the Dodos, Beatbeat Whisper @ Rite Stop Cafe, 9pm, $6 minimum order, 21+(?)
2/9 Or, the Whale; Beatbeat Whisper, Emily Jane White @ Starry Plough, 8:30, $8, a/a(?)
2/28 The Dodos; Or, the Whale @ Cafe du Nord, details TBD. (Noise Pop 08)

For the more visually inclined, I’ve made an easy-to-use graphical representation.

I’m a big fan of good bills, so you’d better believe that I’ll be at some–or, most probably, all–of these shows.

Update It appears that the Dodos are not on that 1/20 bill at this point and instead it will be Garret Pierce, Silvertooth, Beatbeat Whisper, and Emily Jane White, which is still a pretty good bill, but it’s different.

It’s hard to follow up that last comment, but 2/28 looks like the show I’ll be attending. Followed by Port O’Brien on Saturday March 1.

Also coming up - Jason Isbell at Slims on 1/26 and Drive by truckers w/ Felice Brothers on Feb 13th at Mezzanine.

Oh and Leopold and his Fiction at Red Devil Lounge on 2/20. It’s heating up!

Yeah, I was going to delete that first comment, but it’s growing on me. Maybe I’ll keep it.

    Great bands :)

You should definitely keep that comment up there. Th best part is where it talks about Mr. Splashy Pants.

Also, that graphic is AWESOME! Only an engineer would do that - and only a scientist would love it. nice!

[…] This is one of the folky triangle shows that I mentioned before. These artists are great. If you feel like I’m repeating myself, you should already be sold on this concert. But let’s run down the line up anyway. […]
