impossibly short: the morning benders @ diesel store happy hour (Noise Pop 2008)
I went to the happy hour at Diesel tonight to see the Morning Benders (myspace) perform an “acoustic” set.
I’d heard that the band would be going on at 5:30, which made sense since they were also playing in San Jose (at the the Blank Club) that evening, so they have to get down pretty promptly, right?
Well, the band didn’t go on until 7:30pm or so. Oh well, more time to drink more of the free beverages.
The crowd was more than ready when the Benders went on. They played a short set, which included starting with “Damnit Anna” and ended with “Waiting for a War”. In between they played “Boarded Doors”, “Loose Change” and one or two more. It seemed to end as soon as it started, but the group played a good and engaging set, like always. I’ll have to see them play a full set sometime soon–I want more of that sweet Morning Benders action.
Lastly, I’m going to ask the question no one else is asking: where was DP? There was some impostor in on bass! (Note: the impostor knew all the songs and played capably.)
