Noise Pop 2008 round up
The Mountain Goats @ Bottom of the Hill
I went to a bunch of shows in the last week. Here’s an (overly simplified and broadly generalized) executive summary and round up:
The Dodos played with common-for-them crazy intensity and were thrilling. Or, the Whale was really solid, as usual. Bodies of Water were too proggy for me.
Enjoyable, well played but not amazing.
Great, but too short.
Mountain Goats played a fantastic set, complete invigorating. So Many Dynamos were energetic and very enjoyable. Caves were good.
She & Him were good for being a celebrity band (implication intended). Whispertown2000 and Adam Stephens were ok.
The Best of Shows awards go to the Mountain Goats and Dodos/ Or, the Whale shows. Those were really excellent.
All in all a really solid and fun Noise Pop. Way to go, Noise Pop people!
