free AmAnSet Set Free demos
I’m sure this is old news to some of you but I found this poking around American Analog Set’s webpage the other day. The band is offering demos of their entire last album Set Free as a free download.
I like AmAnSet a lot. Their indie drone pop sound is unique and engaging. They’re pretty well-known but I feel like they don’t quite get the recognition they should. If you don’t know them already, you should give them a shot.

The band is effectively done now–I saw their last tour in 2005. That’s really a shame as I loved their last three albums. Singer and songwriter Andrew Kenny can now be found playing in Ola Podrida and apparently has toured as part of Broken Social Scene. I’ve also some solo dates of his floating around, mostly in the New York area. At some point he was also pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry. (More on his goings on at AmAnSet’s myspace). Mark Smith is probably more famous for Explosions in the Sky these days. I’m not sure what the rest of the band members are up to.
YES. These guys definitely float near the very top of my favorite artists list. That show in 2005 at BotH was really, really fantastic, and I am quite sad that they are more or less done as a band.
