song obsession friday! (for the week ending September 5)
Song obsessions are those songs that we listen to on repeat. I noticed that my obsessions are often a week long. I also thought that other people might have similar obsessions. I’ve collected a panel of a few like-minded individuals and gotten their “song obsessions of the week.” Quite often it’s easy to explain why the song is good; it’s much hard to explain why we’re obsessed. Maybe you’ll become obsessed with one of these.

Adrian (me):
the Mommyheads – Bingham’s Hole (mp3) (buy)
Since seeing the Mommyheads reunite on Wednesday after 10 years off and play a tight set (review and photos forthcoming), this song, their second of the night, has been swirling around my head. There’s something about the off-rhythm loops that just has it caught in an infinite loop around certain portions of my brain brain.

Keith:
Ra Ra Riot – Suspended in Gaffa (mp3) (buy)
Always nice when someone unexpectedly covers a favorite artist, even nicer when they transform the original into an entertaining new composition.

my song obsession for the week is ‘the Columbia’ by lackthereof. I think I listened to it 25 times today.
