blog confessional: six emo bands I’ll admit still listening to

Six emo[1] bands that I’ll admit still listening to (occasionally[2]) :

  1. Get Up Kids
  2. Mineral
  3. Jimmy Eat World
  4. For Reasons Unseen
  5. Dashboard Confessional
  6. the Anniversary

Quite a bit of it falls pretty squarely in nostalgia/ comfort music. Poke fun if you will, but I’m alright with it.

[1] That is, phase four: post-emo indie rock style emo.

[2] Despite the fact that I don’t have any “emo” released after 2001 or 2002.

  1. No Weezer? Really? Not even the old stuff?

I definitely listen to the first two Weezer albums quite a bit. I wouldn’t call them emo though. They’re much more power pop in my mind. Angsty power-pop (especially Pinkerton) but still power pop.

  3. Oz says:

I’m going to pour a beer on you at Treasure Island Festival.

  4. adrian says:

I look forward to it, Oz. I look forward to it.

  5. [...] swear this obsession has nothing to do with Adrian’s post on Tuesday, although I thoroughly agree with [...]

Eiww. I might have to double Oz’s beer drench. I admit to seeing both Get Up Kids and Jimmy Eat World live back in high school/freshman year of college. But they kind of make me want to ram them in the knees these days. But then again, I don’t believe in violence…
