go inside the Motown vault

Motown Records hit its 50th birthday yesterday. The Detroit Free Press has a video that takes you inside possibly the most amazing archive in rock music: the Universal Motown tape archive.

a) Jaw dropping. I may die happy if I enter that place. b) I’m pleasantly surprised that the Universal VP that gives the tour seems to be a legitimate fan. c) When will they start releasing super-collector packs that have the tracks separated out, like they do in the video with “Standing in the Shadows of Love”? I’d love to go through and listen to them like that and make my own mixes.
