the bay bridged birthday bash @ the rickshaw (heavenly states, birds and batteries, geographer), photos, review, etc.
I had a cough tearing up my throat and I could hardly talk by the end of the evening, but I still had a good time at The Bay Bridged’s 3rd Birthday Bash featuring the Heavenly States (myspace), Birds & Batteries (myspace) and Geographer (myspace).
I managed to be backstage for all of Geographer’s set. That was disappointing because I always like to see them put on a good set. I heard it muffled, but that’s not the same.
I hadn’t seen Birds & Batteries in a year and a half and they’d changed line-ups and added new songs. They mix elements of country and electronic rock in an unusual and interesting way. Their newest member, Chris, who handles guitar and pedal steel duties, adds something to the band. While I tend to like the more countryish songs over the more electronic ones, I enjoyed their set overall.
About a year after I got The Heavenly States’ Delayer and ten months after I got into it, I finally had the chance to see the band.
With a show heavy on songs from Delayer, the band rocked a well practiced and confident set. It was an enjoyable set, but my cold was getting the better of me and I had faded significantly by the end of the set.

adrian,

best,
