There’s a pretty sweet bill at the Bottom of the Hill this Friday: Great Lake Swimmers (myspace) and locals Winterbirds. Kate Maki’s also on the bill.
You may remember Winterbirds from when they played down at KZSU. They play gorgeous male + female-vocaled slowcore in the vein of Low and Pedro the Lion.

Great Lake Swimmers are a band I’ve liked since I reviewed their debut full length for KZSU. Playing folk with a nice sense of space and natural reverb, the band has consistently put out good music for the past few years. I haven’t had a chance to see them yet, so I’m excited to see this show.

You can stream the whole new album at Spinner. Also, Thousand Island Life had an interesting article a while back about the band recording that album in the US-Canada border region called Thousand Islands.
